I can’t stand all the meals coming from a week of being in a freezer. My mom does this and it does not taste good, the same, or as fresh. Freshly cooked is better. But, now days everyone has pushed themselves with a full schedule and not giving enough time for a real family meal. Holidays, all from stuff that was sitting in the freezer, gross & I don’t care if I go to eat it or not.

    • You have never tasted a freezer crock pot meal. It’s fresh – because all you are doing is freezing the ingredients so that you can just add them all to the crock pot the day you want to make it. I am very picky about the foods I freeze. If it doesn’t taste good when if comes out of the freezer it is not worth my time. Im a stay at home mom and the day goes by very fast just doing mom stuff. We don’t even have any of our kids in sports and I home school. When I can prep some freezer meals in the amount of time it would take to make 1 meal I am saving a lot of time during our week. This is more time I can spend snuggling with my kids. You should really search freezer slow cooker meals – they are worth your time. Here’s 40 recipes – http://www.savingyoudinero.com/2014/10/21/40-slow-cooker-freezer-meals-printables/

  23. Hi there Janell ! We have a large family that joins us every Thanksgiving along with a few folks that we consider family. With that said I always try & lay out a spread that everyone will find something that they enjoy eating. I make a big turkey & a mid sized ham. Parker house yeast rolls, a green bean casserole from Alton Brown, a spinach & water chestnut souffle, dairy rich mashed potatoes with giblet gravy, a broccoli casserole, sausage stuffing & yams. I also make a fruit salad it is pretty sweet but I never know if I should call it a side dish or a desert. For desert my grandmothers pumpkin bread, a triple chocolate cake and our new tradition is pumpkin bars. These little beauties are a cross between a cheese cake & pumpkin pie. nestled upon a sugar cookie crust. IF I am feeling up to it a day or tow before the big feast I make a potato ham chowder to serve as an appetizer & keep all the hungry mouths out of the kitchen while I create the meal.
